hooray!
i would just like to take a moment to celebrate the great news coming out (*snickers* get it?) of spain and canada. go them! just one more reason to move north. oh if only i had $500,000 to invest in a canadian company.

but i’m still tired. things are slowly coming together around here. there are less and less boxes scattered around the place, they are being broken down and stacked in the kitchen. thank god the kitchen is huge. if we don’t know what to do with something right away, we just stick it in there. the kitchen is taking forever though because so much of our stuff is new and we have to wash it all before we can use it. it’s definitely worth it. it’s so amazing to watch a proper pot boil, with little bubbles all over the bottom, and not just on one side like my mom’s old pots :)
there aren’t any pictures yet, because i just found the box with the camera in it about an hour ago. also, it’s a mess around here. maybe by the weekend it will be in a good enough condition to document.
now i’m off to bed because i have to work tomorrow. i haven’t been to work in four days! it’s awesome! i was supposed to work monday but i got someone to cover me because i was totally exhausted from moving on sunday.
oh yeah, the “craft show” was a bust. it was more of a hick community having a group yardsale/social event. everyone knew everybody, and no one was there to spend money. i even cut my prices back to the lowest i was willing to accept and i only sold two things. i sold the yakai clutch, and an ipod protector that i hadn’t put up on the site yet. somebody would pick up a bag or something, i would tell them how much it was, and they would put it right back down. come on people! what the hell were you expecting? this was supposed to be a craft show and antique fair, not a crap ass garage sale. anyway, i won’t be going back there next year if they have it again. and no one there knew about other shows in the area. anyway, dissapointing, and i’m moving on. to bed! i swear!
thanks to an excellent gift from mel, jon and i bought some artwork for the new apartment. we got some cool prints for the living room, bedroom, and bathroom. they’re all asian, and two feature koi!

now we just need to get in the place and start putting it togther. we have the uhaul rented, but i’m starting to worry that the steps aren’t going to be done in time. the “landlord” seems to think it’s ok to just get it done whenever, and kick us out of the place the day they have to work on them. um 1) jon works from home, and he can’t afford to lose a day’s work and 2) where are we supposed to go? she seems to think that because we are/were living with my mother, we can just stay with her. hello! just because she’s my mother doesn’t mean she owns a big house with extra bedrooms! her new apartment is even smaller than ours. meh. i just hope it all works out. i need to stop worrying.
dude, i love this!
25 days! can’t wait! i have no idea who is going to die. i’m leaning towards dumbledore, but who knows. i hope snape has a more important role in this book, as i love him *squeeee*
well, not really, because i do own one of those, and these are all done by hand ;) but i have been busy with my birthday yarn. the siren scarf is finished, and it’s gorgeous. no picture i’ve been able to take really shows the colors well, there are highlights of purple that just won’t show up. it still looks gorgeous, it’s just even better in real life.
the silver scarf is coming along well. i’m trying to mix up the things i have for sale. most everything is bright colors and i wanted some more things that are a little more muted, or classy looking. this is going to be something you could wear out to a fancy restaraunt, or with a little black dress.
i’ve also used up one ball of grignasco jazz print. i made a felted ipod protector, which has yet to be felted. mom’s moved out already, and she took the washer and dryer with her. this means i’m probably only going to be felting once a week when i go over to do the laundry. here’s a pic of it pre-felting anyway.
i had some left over when i was done with the ipod protector, so i made a chunky wrist warmer too. they’re a fun little project that take a very short time and use up scraps after you’ve finished another project. i can’t wait to make the pink one.
and for the last of the knitting news, mia’s hat and scarf fit her perfectly. her mom decided on tassles about two inches in length, so once that is done i can write up a bill and mail them to her. yay!
yeah, i know, what yarn diet? seriously, i was trying to be good. jon made the mistake of telling me earlier this week that if i really wanted to buy yarn, i could. my budget was $50. i only went over a little bit! grand total at the yarn store today: $66.03. everything is for items to take to the craft show though, so hopefully i will be getting it back. pics!
the pink and blue are both grignasco jass print, for felted i-pod protectors. the silver and white on the bottom is lang venezia colors, on top is ironstone yarns paris nights, which will be held together to make a very fancy scarf. the green multi is trendsetter dune, and the color is freaking gorgeous. i’m going to make a scarf with it and the berroco glace sitting on top of it, and i’m going to call the scarf “siren” because it makes me think of some beautiful sea creature. i’m going to start that one right away, as in, i’ve already gotten out the needles for it.
hooray for yarn! and i still have that gift carf from mel to take to a.c. moore. oooh, they have nice stuff! can’t wait! jon and i are having dinner tonight with my sister and her husband, so it will have to wait. maybe sunday.
oh yeah! i also got a bunch of buttons for ipod protectors, and a set of size 4 16″ circs. that brought the total up a bit. it wasn’t all yarn ;)
woot! happy birthday to me! can i just say i love my husband? ’cause i do. look at the lovely yarn cake i made myself:
and look at what i used to make it:
woot! beautiful wooden swift courtesy of jon, my wonderful husband. ball winder courtesy of mom, who suprised me because she had earlier told me she hadn’t had time to get me anything, and could we put off my birthday until after we were all settled into our new places? silly mom.
by the way, the yarn cake is made (from the top down) of knit picks shimmer (gift from my SP4), handpaintedyarn pure merino worsted, and cascade magnum. one skein of cascade magnum is so freaking huge that i had to make two yarn cakes out of it, it wouldn’t all fit on the ball winder. awesome. it’s not a big deal for that yarn because it’s super easy to make a spit join with that stuff.
shower time, then it’s off to the yarn store! i need to buy some buttons for i-pod protectors, and i might just pick up a little something for myself :D jon already told me i could buy myself some yarn…
birthday the second comes tomorrow!
mel, thanks for the gift card dude. you’re awesome.
finished! and can i just say, pom-poms are teh suck. i have a pom-pom maker, but i’d never used it before. it said the smallest size would make a 1.5″ pom-pom. i spent 15 minutes making one, and it’s less than an inch. the middle size is supposed to be 2″, but it’s barely 1.5″. this is fine, because it’s the size i wanted to begin with. i’m just too impatient to make things like pom-poms where you have to pull yarn through a little hole over and over again.
i also finished the body of the scarf, i just have to email stephanie and ask if she wants tassles before i wash it. i hope hope hope it softens up with washing. it’s so short! mia is a little girl though. without tassles it’s 40 inches, which is how tall mia is. i don’t want too much extra scarf hanging around for her to trip on. i figure it will be just enough to wrap around for warmth, and the tassles will dangle to just above her waist. i hope she likes it when i show her on saturday!
