if you’re not outraged, you’re not paying attention

iran executes two teenage boys for being homosexual

i am so outraged by this i can’t even speak. i should be careful, my hate is showing again.

almost as bad is that i did not even hear about it until a week after it happened. according to the news i watch, it wasn’t important.

idiot!

Filed under: General Posts — Wendy @ 6:51 am

i am an idiot. an idiot that hates blogspot. i just posted in my secret pal’s blog, with my freaking blog address attached to the comment. three times in a row. of course, i am not really an idiot. blogspot is the idiot. apparently they save your information, ie website address, to be helpful you know, and post it when you make a post, regardless of whether you have removed it from the comment or not. AAAAARRRRGGGGGGGGGGH!

so, hi, secret pal! if you’re here. sorry. um, love ya! gonna keep on spoiling ya! new package goes out this week!

also, omg i love this one the most of all, my LYS is having a sale this week! the huge summer blowout! i spent about $80 at this thing last year, but got huge delicious gobs of yarn. and, *dances*, jon gets paid this week so there will actually be money for it! seeing as i had to spend my entire paycheck on freaking car repairs, i’m a little short. hahaha, i’m always short, but i’m short on money. omg, i’m giddy. what’s going on? i think my nap messed with my brains. mmmm, brains.

i’m going to go play some warcraft. i have taken up the task of gathering as many pets for my human character as i can get. so far i have a prairie chicken, a snowshoe bunny, and a white kitten (very rare, i could have sold it for as much as 15 gold, but i love it and it’s soulbound to me now!).

what a week

Filed under: General Posts — Wendy @ 8:37 am

this week has sucked, but it’s had it’s high points too. mainly thursday sucked. my car finally died. turned out the alternater was shot, and there’s a whole paycheck down the drain. dammit. while at work thursday night (i had to have the assistant manager come and pick me up because the car was in the shop), mom called to tell me aunt sara had a stroke. she was in the hospital having her knee replaced, and the next day sometime in the afternoon she had one. her left side was affected, mainly her face and arm, but also her leg. it’s not all of her leg, she can feel and move her foot. i went to see her today while the laundry was going through it’s paces at mom’s. she looks pretty well all things considered. she’s very lucid for someone on morphine, and you can understand what she’s saying fairly well. jen (her daughter) told mom that today was a rough day for her. she was upset and crying, but she seemed alright while we were there. she likes my little monsters, so i made her one. it’s a soft purple color, with antenna and a tail. she seemed to really like it. i named it mugwump, in honor of dumbledore (it’s purple afterall, his favorite color), and she liked that too. it felt good to knit again, i haven’t done anything for at least a week, maybe two.

good things that have happened this week: my rice turned out really good, and i got another (!) package from SP. she’s tricksy! she told me there wouldn’t be another one for about three weeks as they were going camping. i was happily suprised to find one on the way out the door this morning to do the laundry. here’s piccies:

that’s some lovely berroco hip-hop. i don’t think i’ve ever actually touched this before, and i was suprised at how soft it is! and the colors are gorgeous. i’m not sure what i’m going to do with it, but right after i took the picture i wound it into a ball because i couldn’t wait to do something with it. of course there is more of the super awesome see’s candy, yay! and a lolipop, a cute card, and cow seeds! you plant them, moo at them while you water them, and they grow into a herd of cows ;) you have to make sure to plant them right though, or they’ll grow upside down.

here’s a pic of the rice too:

when aunt sara is home from the hospital i will take pics of Mugwump. she turned out really cute :)

secret pal is psychic!

Filed under: General Posts — Wendy @ 5:09 am

she must be! she knew i was hungry, and mailed me food! and some yummy yarn, but not in the “i’m going to eat this” kind of yummy.

that’s some super soft cascade pastaza, which is 50% llama, 50% wool. i don’t know why, but i wasn’t expecting llama to be so soft. i think because when i read people tend to have allergic problems with llama, i assumed it was because it was scratchy. but it’s not! it’s a super pretty teal color, as i’m sure you can tell from the picture :) there’s also some locally grown (local for SP that is, in CA) rice, and SP even made up seasoning packets for me! she’s so sweet! it’s cooking on the stove now. i promise not to take the lid off until it’s done. also in the package was a book of madlibs, and some more of that super awesome see’s candy. mmmm, yummy! yummy is the word of the day apparently :) thanks SP! have fun camping!

it’s a good day for me i guess, because i got a raise and “promotion”! i’m going to be lead sales in the craft side of the store. $8.60/hr, yay! only slightly below the poverty level now. i’ll also be working more hours a week, so money should be pretty good around here, which is a relief. money is something jon and i are always stressed about, mainly because we don’t have anything saved up, and something always seems to die right when we get to the point we could start saving. like my car, which is going to the garage next week. the battery light has been coming on, which i at first thought was a stupid electrical problem, because my car does that. it seemed to only come on when it was raining, so i didn’t worry about it. now it’s on pretty much all the time, and the ABS light is coming on. i can handle the car dying because the battery isn’t charging right or something. i’m not screwing around with the brakes. hopefully whatever it is can be easily and cheaply fixed.

i haven’t been knitting much because my shoulder has been bothering me. i think it’s not up to working 40 hr weeks. i have knitting meetup tomorrow though, so i’m going to work on a little something for someone i know :)

omg, the rice smells so good! i’m going to eat my arm off waiting for it! that’s the only downside of rice, you have to be patient. i shall do my best to wait, or else i’ll screw it up and there won’t be anything for dinner.

now, to warcraft!

movie rec

Filed under: General Posts — Wendy @ 7:24 am

jon and i watched this movie last night. 6ixtynin9. and no, it’s not a porno. it’s a pretty cool movie from thailaind that i was very suprised to see on Comcast’s on-demand free movie list. it’s about a woman who lives in apartment six, but the six on her door is broken, so it looks like a nine. this leads to an unusual package being left on her door, resulting in murder and mayhem. it’s a very dark comedy, and i wasn’t 100% happy with the ending, but i still reccomend it.

i like seeing movies from other cultures, it can sometimes be a window into a different world. i think that’s why i like watching korean detergent dramas so much. i have actually learned a lot about their culture. i know it’s not like real life, anymore than american soaps are anything like american life, but it’s something. i talk to my hairdresser about the things in the show and we discuss how the culture is changing with each generation. she’s japanese, not korean, but they have similar beliefs and traditions.

lovelies!

aren’t they gorgeous! moments after this picture was taken one peach met a tragic end…in my tummy! oooh, so good. not super flavorful, probably since the season has just started around here, but the texture was lovely, and they were still sweet and juicy. i also have plums in the fridge. can’t forget about those!

not much going on today. my feet and shoulder hurt because i was out on the floor for most of the day, instead of on register. that’s ok though, today went rather fast. i’m still upset i won’t be at the half blood prince parties tonight. i know that if i went i wouldn’t get out until late, and i would not be able to come home and go to bed, i would have to read the book. this would lead to me not having slept by the time i had to get ready for work. not good. so i will tough it out and get it after work. we won’t be staying long at jamie’s party, that’s for sure.

on a final note, some insane (and rude, but i don’t think the two were related) lady asked me if we had any yarn made in england. wtf? how many yarns we carry, and she expects me to memorize the country each one is made in? psycho, look on the labels yourself!

mmm, peaches.

long time, no update!

Filed under: General Posts — Wendy @ 7:32 pm

wow, it’s been a whole week! i can’t believe i’ve been away from my blog for so long. things have been insanely busy around here. well, busy for us. probably pretty slow for other people.

jon’s family came over on sunday, as well as my mom. mom saved my ass, yet again :) i was going to make potato salad, and at saturday 10 pm i finally got a phone call from my aunt with the recipe. i went out in the kitchen to get everything together, and find i am missing one crucial tool without which you cannot make potato salad: a potato peeler. ack! quick phone call to mom, and she’ll pick up some from the grocer on the way over. thanks mom! everyone loved the soup, which is awesome. linsey (jon’s sister) especially liked it. she had her wisdom teeth out on friday, and it was the first really substantial food she had eaten. i gave her a tupperware thingy of it to take with. i tried making beef soup last night, but i don’t think it turned out. i didn’t have too much beef, so i only filled the crock pot half way, and when i went to check on it after a few hours, it was boiling! on low heat! so turned it off and hopefully the beef won’t be tough. i also only had onions, celery, and a ton of potatoes (remember, no potato salad!) to put in it. i wish i had corn and carrots.

there are three beautiful peaches sitting on the kitchen table waiting for me. i’m going to take a picture of them they are so pretty. i keep walking by, picking one up, and smelling it. sooo luscious!

there has been very little knitting going on. i’ve been working 8 hour days, every day. i had off yesterday, but spent a good deal of it at my mother’s doing laundry. only two loads this time, thank god! jon and i have started wearing things until they are actually dirty, instead of wearing it once and throwing it in the pile. i’m not wasting an entire day doing laundry that isn’t really dirty.

harry potter comes out tonight! i won’t be able to get it until after work tomorrow. stupid freaking work! if i hadn’t already asked everybody and their mother if they would cover for me, i would totally be calling out. and of course there’s a birthday party for one of my cousin’s kids, who is turning one. OMG i don’t care, it’s HARRY POTTER. my family just doesn’t get that i don’t like kids. plus, um, he’s one? do you think he’s even going to notice what is going on? he’s going to sit on the floor and play with my mom (who is obsessed with him) and maybe poop or something. i’m getting him a book or something from borders when i go to pick up HP.

and now i must run. sorry this was such a lame post, but once again i am late for work!

my sweetheart, my darling

Filed under: General Posts — Wendy @ 10:41 am

here’s more about “my sweetheart, my darling”.

in korean

in english

if you go to the korean page, there are little flash buttons under the image with drop down menus. the first link in the second tab from the left has video clips!

never mind, you have to have some kind of KBS password, and since the site is in Korean, i can’t figure out how to do it. oh well.
