before everyone starts with the congratulations, i should say that this is a total suprise, and not a pleasant one at that. jon and i have never wanted kids, and thought we were doing everything we could to stop this from happening. turns out nothing is fool-proof short of surgery. we’re not going to keep the child, both because a child should not be raised in an environment where it is not wanted and possibly not loved, and because we can barely afford to feed ourselves right now (don’t worry, i’m eating enough, mom is helping us out). we’ve decided the best thing for everyone will be to give it up for adoption. i’m just happy that so far everything looks healthy and we’ve found a really great state program that will pay for all of the medical care. turns out my health insurance isn’t worth the paper the card is printed on and has no maternity benefits. anyway, things have been rather insane around here (we found out on monday).

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your blog along with these instructions.
5. Don’t you dare dig for that “cool” or “intellectual” book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.

“One might steal a throne or a king’s ransom or a Martian princess and feel euphoric about it. But a hat? Stealing a hat was beneath contempt. “

the rules don’t say anything about telling what book it’s from! i’m going to tell you anyway: The Cat Who Walks Through Walls, by Robert Heinlein. those who know me well will not be suprised at all that Heinlein wrote the book that was nearest to me :)
