just before she smeared mixed veggies and rice cereal all over it…

it’s incredible how big georgia’s gotten! she’s in the 95th percentile for her age, which means she’s 7 mos, but about the size of a 9 mo. old. what a sweet and happy baby she is turning out to be. she didn’t cry the entire time we were together. her parents have really done a wonderful job with her. she’s always smiling and happy. we met at a nearby shopping village, and as soon as we saw her she was all smiles, letting me hold her right away, not even a “who is this person?”. she’s incredibly social, which is lucky, considering what hermits jon and i are. she spent the entire afternoon laughing, giggling, and smiling. there’s a whole bunch of pictures up at flickr, for whoever would like to see.

i wish the lighting in our apartment was better. the walls are a dirty off white/ivory color, so the lighting is always yellowish. of course, i always get a creative urge around two in the morning, when artificial light is all i have to work with, which makes it worse. i’m currently enduring my period, so combine the two, and you get slightly yellow pictures of chocolate wrappers.

i’ve been meaning to post this for a while now, but never got around to it. this is the most recent monster, which isn’t saying a lot, as i finished him weeks ago. my shoulder just has not been happy with me. i’ll be writing him up in the pattern book though. i pinned his little legs to him while he was drying so they stay all arched like that.

rub me on your butt!

tiny little soaps (6cm/2.25in high) inspired by jon’s little soap t-shirt from threadless. the mouth on the green guy didn’t turn out as good as the pink one, but i still like him. i didn’t do the little arms and legs either, didn’t really think they’d hold up, seeing how small they are.

chicken ‘n’ biscuits

Filed under: General Posts — Wendy @ 9:24 pm

last night’s dinner. delicious! i love chicken and biscuits, but it’s a bit of a pain to make. you have to chop a ton of carrots, celery, and onions. and then there’s the biscuit making! i make the dough in a food processor, which is easy enough. the recipe calls for it to be kneaded afterwards though, and it’s super wet sticky dough. i never remember to add extra flour, though i have a tiny food processor and it probably wouldn’t hold any extra flour anyway… jon has to stand next to me and sprinkle flour on the dough and my hands, but i still get goopy sticky dough all over them. well worth the effort though, as there is enough to feed the two of us for a good three days.

recipe via coconut-lime. i always make more carrots and celery than it calls for, because i tend to just wing it. i use recipes more as a guideline than a strict set of rules i guess. alton would be proud, right?

exciting news!

Filed under: General Posts — Wendy @ 4:45 pm

i still can’t really believe it, but i’m going to have a pattern published! how exciting! what’s even better, the little monster i made as a prototype is going to be on the cover of the book! check it out here:

woohoo! the world will soon be overrun with little monsters!

many thanks to Liz for test knitting for me, i very much appreciate it!

i’ve been writing down the patterns for the new monsters i’ve been coming up with (the turtle, lion, spider, etc) and i’m thinking of publishing a book of them. i have to find out about self publishing though. should i do it? i guess i’ll have to find out how much of an investment it is. we shall see!

*edited to add* they have changed the cover for publication, and my monster did not make the cut :( you can see the actual cover now if you click through the link.

rain on the ground

this is a shot of the ground cover outside our front door just after it rained. i love how the light is captured in the little drops.
